The Mall

The Mall
The Mall, named after the popular 17th-century game of pell mell (an early form of golf) forms a broad tree-lined avenue dividing St James's Park, to the south, from the elegant streets of St James's, to the north.
The Mall forms a ceremonial link between Buckingham Palace, official residence of the Queen, to the west, and, to the east, Whitehall, scene of much pageantry during such formal occasions as the State Opening of Parliament, Trooping the Colour, and the Remembrance Day parade at the Cenotaph.
