The Serpentine, Hyde Park
The Serpentine, Hyde Park

The Serpentine in Hyde Park, formed in 1750 by damming the River Westbourne, is a popular venue for sunbathers and swimmers, some of whom take an early-morning dip every day, even in the depths of winter! The lake separates the former monastic lands of Hyde Park from neighbouring Kensington Park, which together make up a 248-hectare (612 acres) city oasis of woodland, flowers and wildlife.
