Day 1
Stonehenge, a famous stone temple with shaped stones weighing up to 45 tons, erected 5000 years ago.
Salisbury Cathedral, a medieval church with England's tallest spire and containing one of only four remaining copies of Magna Carta.
The World Heritage City of Bath with more listed buildings than London! See The Roman Baths with plunge pools and hot springs. Explore the most elegant Georgian crescents and squares. Overnight in the Cotswolds.
Day 2
Tour the Cotswold Hills and see the beautiful villages and small towns that make this region famous.
Visit Blenheim Palace, and see the Italian gardens and parkland.
Oxford is one of the most famous university cities in the world, with its wonderful architecture, river and dreaming spires. Overnight in the Cotswolds.
Day 3
Stratford-Upon-Avon, birthplace of England's greatest playwright, William Shakespeare. Visit the properties associated with him including Anne Hathaway's Cottage and Holy Trinity Church - where Shakespeare is buried - or visit Warwick Castle, an elaborate medieval fortification. A great choice if you have children. Overnight in the Lake District.
Day 4
Spend the day touring the Lake District Including Lake Windermere and Ullswater. Take a trip on Coniston Water, on an elegant Victorian steamboat, The Gondola. See the mountains, lakes, towns and villages that inspired the poet William Wordsworth. Overnight in the Lake District.
Day 5
Tour the Yorkshire Dales National Park, 'James Herriott Country'. Pass villages such as Hawes and stop for photos in the valleys and mountain tops.
Visit Fountains Abbey, a huge 12th century ruined monastery, now part of a sublime landscape garden with temples, ponds and monuments.
Explore the North York Moors National Park to Castle Howard. This baroque palace is home to paintings by van Dyck, Gainsborough and Reynolds. Overnight in York.
Day 6
Discover York. Have a walking tour of this great medieval city. Visit York Minster, Europe's largest church north of the Alps. Explore the city's famous tea and antique shops. Overnight in York.
Day 7
Visit Lincoln, a city with pre-historic origins. The triple-towered, gothic Lincoln Cathedral stands on a 200ft limestone plateau among medieval buildings.
Visit Cambridge with its fascinating architecture of all styles and perfect lawns. Discover the secrets of the city, including the breathtaking Kings College Chapel.
Duxford is a former Royal Air Force base now a famous museum featuring the aircraft that played a part in defending the country from invasion during the 'Battle of Britain'.
Return to London through the beautiful Suffolk countryside studded with ancient towns suspended in time.
